The value of ecosystem services, biodiversity and blue-green infrastructures in cities, exemplified by Dresden, Liberec and Děčín (BIDELIN)

The German-Czech project is based on the ecosystem services concept (ESS).  Project results will be processed for easy application in decision-making processes, urban planning, nature conservation as well as in public informational campaigns. An additional aim within the project is to implement concrete measures in the cities to enhance ecosystem services at specific sites.

The scientists of the Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development (IOER) in Dresden and the Institute for Economic and Environmental Policy (IEEP) in Usti nad Labem will apply an uniform approach to detecting, quantifying and evaluating ecosystem services in the cities Dresden, Liberec and Děčín.

The results will be made available to the general public. On 28 November 2019 a conference took place in Ústí nad Labem on the theme "The importance of green and blue infrastructure for the well-being of urban populations". Here the Bidelin team and partner cities presented results and gave suggestions. In addition, the short film (video) produced in the project about the "benefit of urban nature" was shown.  The video is available in German and Czech.

The project is supported by the "Cooperation Programme for the Promotion of Cross-border Cooperation between the Free State of Saxony and the Czech Republic 2014-2020".
